The comessa Vacuum Paddle Dryers are used for
uniform drying of products which are generally in a pasty state and
being free flowing after processing. Vacuum drying avoids any contamination
or oxydation by the ambient air and allows low temperature evaporation
of solvents. Working principle: The comessa Vacuum Paddle Dryer is constituted by a horizontal cylindrical jacketed shell which contains a rotating hollow shaft with paddles. The shell, the shaft as well as the paddles are either heated or cooled. The product is intensively mixed by the rotor in order to get an efficient heat transfer. The solvent vapours are filtered and then condensed in a heat exchanger which is located between the dryer and vacuum pump. The Paddle Dryer is a batch system.
