COMESSA company (Mechanical Construction of Schiltigheim-Strasbourg) was created in 1920.
Since its creation in 1920, COMESSA has specialized in the design and manufacturing of industrial equipment combining thermal, aeraulic, mechanical and hydraulic processes.
Initially concentrated on manufacturing machinery for the textile, mining and railway industries, since the 1945s, COMESSA has specialized in process technologies for the thermal treatment of divided solids.

1920 : Creation of COMESSA
COMESSA was born (Mechanical Construction of Schiltigheim-Strasbourg)
COMESSA has established in the local industrial landscape with the construction of machine tools, textile machinery, railway equipment, public works equipment, industrial drying installations, etc.
COMESSA has joined the group “Les Forges de Strasbourg” in 1960.
1986: Closure of the group “Les Forges de Strasbourg”. COMESSA was bought by SKAKO group.
When the group « Les Forges de Strasbourg » was closed, COMESSA has been bought by SKAFO, a Danish company, specialized in vibrating equipment.
1999 : COMESSA went out of SKAKO group and becomes an independant company.
SKAKO decided to separate vibrating equipment division from the drying division.
COMESSA left then SKAKO group to become an independent company specialized in thermal processing of divided solids as of 1999.
2025 : COMESSA history is continuing with references supplied all over the world.
As of today, COMESSA remains an autonomous and independent company that celebrated its centenary in 2020. COMESSA is continuing to operate in thermal processing of divided solids with its custom-built technologies worldwide supplied, including all kinds of fluidized beds, rotary tubes, belt dryers, flash dryers and rapid dryers.
COMESSA is appreciated internationally for the quality of its equipment and service.
For decades, COMESSA has been a leading player in the thermal processing of divided solids, particularly in industrial drying, calcining and gas/solid reactions for chemical, food, mineral, environmental… industries.
COMESSA works in close collaboration with its clients, so that the solutions it offers are always adapted to their requirements.
Design of equipement supplied by COMESSA is based on its in-depth knowledge and numerous references, or on the results of tests carried out in its laboratory.
COMESSA’s structure is based on a team of engineers and technicians who are experts in both Chemical and Mechanical Engineering; they are active from the stage of defining processes right up to the moment of commissioning the plants and after-sales service.
Since 1999, COMESSA has operated as an independent company, and has a strong presence in Europe, North Africa, Middle East and Asia.
